UAE petrol and diesel prices for September 2026 have increased, with the new rates taking effect across the country from 1 September. The UAE Fuel Price Committee approved higher prices for Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus 91 and diesel on 31 August, raising everyday fuel costs for motorists and commercial operators.
Petrol has risen by 20 fils per litre across all three grades, while diesel has increased by 50 fils per litre. The change follows another rise in August after fuel prices had fallen in July.
UAE Petrol And Diesel Prices For September 2026
The Fuel Price Committee confirmed the following retail rates for September. Compared with August, the three petrol grades are around 5.6 to 5.9 per cent more expensive, while diesel has risen by just over 13 per cent.
- Super 98: AED 3.80 per litre, up from AED 3.60.
- Special 95: AED 3.69 per litre, up from AED 3.49.
- E-Plus 91: AED 3.61 per litre, up from AED 3.41.
- Diesel: AED 4.30 per litre, up from AED 3.80.
The new prices took effect on 1 September 2026 and will apply until the UAE's next monthly fuel-price adjustment.
Petrol Rises By 20 Fils Across All Grades
For private car owners, the September change is consistent across the three petrol grades. Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus 91 are each 20 fils per litre more expensive than they were in August.
The pricing gap between the three grades has therefore remained broadly unchanged. Motorists should continue using the octane rating recommended for their vehicle rather than switching fuel grades solely because of the monthly increase.
Diesel Records The Sharper Increase
Diesel has moved from AED 3.80 to AED 4.30 per litre, a 50-fils increase. That represents a considerably steeper monthly rise than petrol and is particularly relevant to businesses operating vans, pickups, buses and other diesel-powered commercial vehicles.
Higher diesel prices may also raise operating costs for businesses dependent on road transport, although the effect will vary according to fleet size, mileage and fuel consumption.
How Much More Will A Typical Fill-Up Cost?

The higher rates become clearer when applied to a typical refill. Based on a 50-litre fill, September's increase adds AED 10 for any of the three petrol grades and AED 25 for diesel.
Using the confirmed September and August rates:
- 50 litres of Super 98: AED 190, compared with AED 180 in August.
- 50 litres of Special 95: AED 184.50, compared with AED 174.50.
- 50 litres of E-Plus 91: AED 180.50, compared with AED 170.50.
- 50 litres of diesel: AED 215, compared with AED 190.
Drivers with larger SUVs, longer daily commutes or higher monthly mileage will see the increase accumulate more quickly through repeated refuelling.
Why UAE Fuel Prices Have Moved Higher Again
The UAE uses a monthly fuel-pricing mechanism that tracks movements in global energy prices while also reflecting domestic market conditions. Fuel prices have been linked more closely to international market movements since the UAE introduced fuel-price deregulation in 2015.
September marks the second consecutive monthly increase following August's rise. However, the latest petrol prices remain below the levels recorded in June 2026.
June rates stood at AED 3.95 for Super 98, AED 3.83 for Special 95 and AED 3.76 for E-Plus 91. Diesel was AED 4.33 per litre.
That means September is more expensive than July and August, but it is not the highest point reached by UAE fuel prices during 2026.
Where The September Increase Matters Most
For many UAE motorists, the change will be felt through repeated monthly refuelling rather than one unusually large payment. The impact will vary considerably depending on vehicle size, efficiency and distance travelled.
Those likely to notice the increase most clearly include:
- Drivers covering long daily distances between emirates.
- Owners of large petrol SUVs with bigger fuel tanks.
- Fleet operators and businesses relying on diesel vehicles.
Regional fleet operators travelling into the UAE will also need to account for the revised rates when calculating fuel and transport costs.
October Fuel Prices Remain Unconfirmed

September's prices are confirmed, but the next adjustment has not yet been announced. UAE fuel rates are reviewed monthly, so October prices will depend on the Fuel Price Committee's next decision and prevailing market conditions.
For motorists, the confirmed position is straightforward:
- September prices took effect on 1 September 2026.
- All three petrol grades increased by 20 fils per litre.
- Diesel increased by 50 fils per litre.
Any expectation that UAE fuel prices will rise or fall again in October remains uncertain until the next official announcement.
September Starts With A Higher Fuel Bill
The latest adjustment means UAE drivers are paying more at the pump for a second consecutive month. Petrol users face a relatively uniform increase across all three grades, while diesel users have seen a significantly larger monthly jump.
For UAE households, commuters and fleet operators, September therefore brings higher running costs. However, current petrol prices remain below the higher levels recorded in June 2026.
