Kia PV5 Middle East Debut in Dubai Introduces Brand’s First PBV

Kia Middle East & Africa unveiled the PV5 at the Museum of the Future in Dubai on 23 June 2026, marking the Kia PV5 Middle East debut and the regional arrival of the brand’s first dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle. The fully electric model was shown in passenger, cargo, accessible and specialist forms aimed at private users, hotel shuttles, ride-hailing, delivery fleets and other commercial operators. The reveal coincided with the signing of a strategic partnership between Kia and the museum.

The event marks the start of Kia’s PBV push in the Middle East and Africa, but it was a regional unveiling rather than a complete retail launch. The announcement did not include UAE prices, customer delivery dates or a country by country GCC sales timetable.

Kia PV5 Middle East debut showcases a modular line-up

Kia’s PBV approach starts with the dedicated E-GMP.S electric platform, designed to support different upper bodies and cabin layouts. The Dubai presentation focused on applications with clear relevance to Gulf passenger and commercial fleets.

• Passenger and Cargo: PV5 Passenger is intended for personal transport, car sharing, ride hailing and shuttle work, with sliding doors and a flexible cabin. PV5 Cargo targets delivery, logistics, small businesses and service fleets, offering a low loading floor and a box shaped load area.
• WAV and Prime Edition: The Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle is an integrated factory solution intended to support passengers with reduced mobility. The Prime Edition conversion adds a more private and comfortable interior for hotels, resorts and executive transport operators.
• Drop Side and specialist bodies: The PV5 Drop Side uses the Chassis Cab base for commercial conversions. Kia says the architecture can support applications including box vans, freezer boxes, utility bodies and other task specific builds.

Confirmed Kia PV5 battery, range and loading figures

The regional launch material confirms a fully electric drivetrain, while Kia’s UAE pages now list both Passenger and Cargo versions. Specifications vary by body and test cycle, so buyers should distinguish the Middle East announcement’s NEDC figure from Kia’s published WLTP numbers.

Range figures use different test cycles

Kia quotes a 71.2 kWh long range battery and up to 524 km on the NEDC cycle for the regional PV5 Cargo, depending on specification. Kia’s published WLTP figures are up to 416 km for Cargo Long and 412 km for the five seat Passenger, with a 10 to 80 per cent DC charging time of about 30 minutes under suitable conditions.

Cargo capacity and passenger access

PV5 Cargo offers up to 4.42 cubic metres of load volume and a 419 mm rear step, with space for two Euro pallets. The UAE Passenger page lists a 399 mm step in height and 1,330 litres of luggage room behind five seats, points that should matter to shuttle, family and mobility service users.

The confirmed equipment picture also includes several fleet focused details:

• Battery and warranty: Kia UAE lists 51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh battery choices for PV5 Cargo, alongside an eight year or 160,000 km battery warranty. Final UAE trim combinations and the standard equipment attached to each battery have not been published.
• Safety and fleet systems: Depending on market specification, the PV5 can include forward collision avoidance, lane keeping assistance, lane following assistance, smart cruise control and speed limit assistance. Telematics, vehicle monitoring and real time diagnostics are also part of Kia’s fleet proposition, although local service packages have not been detailed.

Where the PV5 fits in the UAE and wider Gulf

The PV5 is relevant to Gulf sectors that run vehicles intensively in cities, including last mile delivery, hotel transport, airport shuttles, facilities management and public services. Its accessible and premium conversions also address two visible regional requirements: transport for people of determination and high end hospitality mobility.

For buyers and operators, the current position is:

• UAE interest is being taken: Kia UAE has added dedicated Passenger and Cargo pages offering brochures, registrations of interest, test drive requests and specification enquiries. No public UAE price or confirmed delivery date appears on those pages.
• The wider GCC rollout remains unclear: The regional debut announcement did not set out a market by market launch schedule for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman. A PV5 Passenger was supplied for a pilot with Saudi developer Red Sea Global in 2025, but that programme was a fleet evaluation rather than a general retail launch.
• Electric van competition is already developing: Mercedes-Benz Vans lists the eSprinter in Dubai, giving UAE operators an existing battery electric commercial alternative. The PV5’s pricing, payload, charging support, conversion network and aftersales uptime will decide how it compares in fleet tenders.

The next stage is Gulf pricing and fleet support

The Dubai unveiling moves the Kia PV5 from a global product story to a model with an official Middle East presence. Its modular bodies, useful access dimensions and fleet software give operators clear points to assess, but the commercial picture is incomplete without local prices, delivery timing, homologated specifications and charging or service packages.

For now, the PV5 is a confirmed regional entrant and a sign that Kia wants a larger role in Gulf commercial and shared mobility. Its real impact will become clearer as pricing, deliveries and further UAE and GCC customer programmes are announced.
