Chinese new-energy vehicle maker ROX plans to unveil its first UAE-designed vehicle in Abu Dhabi in March 2027, deepening its manufacturing, design and technology operations in the Emirates.

The ROX UAE-designed ADAMAS will be known as the ADAMAS Abu Dhabi Edition. It is being developed through the company’s global design network and will incorporate influences from Emirati culture. The announcement follows the start of ADAMAS production at ROX’s new Abu Dhabi manufacturing centre.

ROX UAE-Designed ADAMAS Confirmed For March 2027

ROX confirmed the March 2027 unveiling alongside the opening of its AI LAB and Design Studio in Abu Dhabi. The company has not announced when customer deliveries will begin, so March should be treated as the planned reveal rather than a confirmed UAE sales launch.

The main confirmed points are:

  • The vehicle will be called the ROX ADAMAS Abu Dhabi Edition.
  • Its planned unveiling is in Abu Dhabi in March 2027.
  • The design will draw on Emirati culture and ROX’s international design network.

ROX has expanded its UAE presence since establishing its global headquarters in Abu Dhabi in 2025, adding local capabilities across design, artificial intelligence and manufacturing.

Abu Dhabi Is Becoming Part Of ROX Vehicle Development

The new ADAMAS is being shaped in Abu Dhabi rather than presented simply as another imported regional specification. ROX says its Design Studio will bring together designers from the UAE, China and other markets.

Emirati Culture Will Influence The Abu Dhabi Edition

The first project from the studio is being developed with the Design Commission – Abu Dhabi and Al Khaznah Leathers.

ROX says the design takes inspiration from Khoos, the traditional Emirati craft of weaving palm fronds. How that influence will appear on the finished vehicle, including its exterior, cabin materials or trim, has not yet been detailed.

AI Development Is Also Moving Into Abu Dhabi

ROX has also opened an AI LAB that will support development of its ROX AGENT AI platform.

This gives the company an Abu Dhabi base combining vehicle design, software and manufacturing, in line with the UAE’s wider effort to attract advanced automotive and technology industries.

Made In The Emirates ADAMAS Production Has Already Started

ROX began local vehicle production in Abu Dhabi on 3 September 2026, with the first three ADAMAS SUVs rolling off the line carrying the “Made in the Emirates” mark.

The new manufacturing operation includes:

  • A 10,000-square-metre facility within KEZAD’s industrial ecosystem in Musaffah.
  • Local sub-assembly capability for more than 80 types of vehicle components.
  • Complete assembly, calibration, rain testing, road testing and final inspection.
  • Planned capacity of 20,000 vehicles in 2027, rising to 300,000 annually by 2030.

ROX and KEZAD say the facility is intended to support the UAE market as well as exports to regional and international destinations.

Current ADAMAS Specifications Give A Reference Point

ROX has not confirmed whether the Abu Dhabi Edition will retain the exact mechanical specification of the current global ADAMAS. For now, the existing model can only be used as a reference.

The current global ADAMAS specification includes:

  • A 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder range extender with dual electric motors and full-time four-wheel drive.
  • Combined motor output of 350 kW and 740 Nm of torque.
  • A 56.01 kWh CATL battery with up to 235 km of WLTC electric range.
  • A claimed 1,226 km combined WLTC range and 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.
  • Six-seat and seven-seat configurations, depending on version.

ROX has not published an official UAE price for the Abu Dhabi Edition. Final battery, range, output and seating specifications also remain unconfirmed.

Why Gulf Buyers Are Paying Closer Attention

For UAE buyers, the key development is the level of localisation. ROX is moving from selling vehicles in the Emirates to designing, producing and testing them there, while positioning Abu Dhabi as an export base.

Several important buyer details are still missing:

  • UAE pricing and trim levels have not been announced.
  • Order opening and first customer delivery dates are not confirmed.
  • Final Abu Dhabi Edition powertrain specifications remain undisclosed.
  • Wider GCC availability has not been detailed.
  • ROX has not identified an official rival set for this version.

March 2027 Will Show How Far ROX’s UAE Localisation Goes

The March 2027 unveiling should show how Emirati design influences have been translated into the ADAMAS and how much the Abu Dhabi Edition differs from the existing SUV.

With local production already underway and design and AI functions being established in the capital, the next major question is whether the Abu Dhabi Edition receives distinct specifications, pricing and broader GCC availability.
